I am going to be in New York City from todayth to the 17th; the school is paying for me to go to this year's CMJ marathon. No, not the Chinese/Croatian/Ceylon Medical Journal, no no not the Church's Ministry among Jewish People. It's thaaaat thing, that thing, tha-at thi-ii-i-ing. I am supposed to see bands and new music and maybe even to network with promoters I've been talking to on the phone in the past few weeks. (I've already stumbled upon some of their myspace accounts, how embarrassing for everyone.)
It's just very odd. In past years I would have given a limb to be able just to go, but I haven't been processing much at all this semester. This morning I poured milk in my cup and o.j. in my cereal!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
(That last bit was a lie to make my lj-entry life more interesting; also, yes, embarrassing.)
I also haven't packed, and I have to go observe a German 101 class in ten minutes. Also, the only "new music" I really gotten "into" recently is a c.1966-1970 song that Eric played for me and the "Even when I'm with my boo, all I think about is you" song that I sing while washing my dishes.
Anyway. German, then Big City time.

Especially because I ate at a rather gross pizza restaurant, and I knew that if you were there we at least could have eaten some charming Asian candies instead!

you remind me of me because i also don't listen to "new music" unless i hear it on the radio or someone makes me. and when i get back from africa it's going to be worse because i will only listen to the tapes that i found in the market and when people try to convince me that there are other worthwhile things i will scoff at them.have fun in enwhysea!

I can't claim to know anything about it, but Tchadien market tapes will probably blow every other band out of the goddamn waaaaaaaterrrrrrr!I can send you sudoku/crossword puzzles in the mail if you'd like, although I may have to revert to the Flat Hat's crossword section when I don't have access to better stuff. Just to warn you.

oh man that would be awesome, even flat hat crossword puzzles or the entire flat hat which would probably make for some entertaining reading...and then i could keep up on who that girl/guy was each week.i totally have recorded your csu in my big list of addresses so be on the look out for crazy letters. have fun this year!!!!
